Counting the dead: Stalin, Hitler, Mao, and Abortion in America

A quick Google search to find out how the number of abortion deaths in America compares to those from war and genocide produced many good sources, below are just two. Depending upon who is counting and how that count is produced the figures vary. Since the numbers are so high, however, it really doesn’t matter. What matters is that all those who attempt to arrive at a total agree that hell has manifested itself on earth many times in the past century. The bloodshed continues on across the globe and in American abortion clinics in this new century.

A quick summary from this website:

Stalin: 20 Million

Hitler (all of WWII): 66 Million

Mao: 40 Million

And from the press release below, Abortion in America: 55 Million

Again, Stalin/Hitler/Mao numbers are from here: “Source List and Detailed Death Tolls for the Primary Megadeaths of the Twentieth Century

Help Memorialize 55 Million Slaughtered Since Roe

Contact: Dianne Edmondson, Exec. Director, Republican National Coalition for Life, 940-391-6699, Dianne@RNCLife.org

ST. LOUIS, Mo., Jan. 15, 2013 — Next Tuesday, January, 22, 2013, the 40th anniversary of the infamous Roe vs. Wade U.S. Supreme Court ruling which legalized abortion on demand, pro-life advocates across America are being urged to memorialize the 55 million pre-born babies who have been aborted since that ruling 40 years ago on that date.

“When people want to express their sorrow for tragic deaths, they often bring symbols of their grief to the sites of the deaths, including candles, flowers and messages,” explains Dianne Edmondson, Executive Director of the Republican National Coalition for Life. “When children are killed, those symbols often include stuffed animals and balloons, such as for the recent school massacre in Newtown. We want to commemorate the 55 million pre-born babies who were aborted before they could even take a breath.”

RNC for Life (www.rnclife.org) is urging those who value the sanctity of life to remember those innocent babes by placing flowers, balloons and stuffed animals at the approximately 600 abortion facilities across America next Tuesday.

“We hope that these spontaneous memorials will be placed at every abortuary, accompanied by sweet reminders of unborn children and even messages to those innocent babies,” Edmondson says. She also is encouraging participants to pray silently in front of the abortion facilities after placing their memorials.

The project’s organizers are confident that in seeing these hundreds of memorials with thousands of participants, America will come to realize the magnitude of the horror that abortion is and has been for four decades. A flyer suitable to distribute is available here.

The Republican National Coalition for Life was founded in 1990 by Phyllis Schlafly to be a counterpoint to two pro-abortion Republican groups who were attempting to remove the Republican Party’s pro-life plank in its national platform. Since that time, the GOP platform has become increasingly pro-life, reflecting the thinking of the American public, which also has become increasingly pro-life according to major polls.
