I have been doing this too long. Writing about Pension Scams I mean. Nothing surprises me anymore as political corruption envelopes everything that happens in Illinois. Jesse Jackson’s fate is just the latest example.
In 2007 Congress passed a law that eliminated congressional pensions if an elected representative was convicted of corruption related to his/her elected position. Jesse voted for the legislation.
Fast forward to 2013 and what do we see? Jackson is eligible for $8,700/mo. in pension and perhaps another $45,000/yr. for disability pay. So 150 grand a year for a corrupt politician.
Jackson’s disability is the convenient and oft used excuse – bi-polarism formerly know as manic-depression. Funny how that bi-polar condition never showed up when he ran for office in 1994. Or 1996 or 1998 or 2000 or 2002 or 2004 or 2006 or 2008 or 2010. But once the feds were hot on his trail – bam a quick BP diagnosis from a friendly psychiatrist. Who wouldn’t be manic-depressed with the feds after you and your entire career gone up in smoke. Oh and did I mention $45,000/yr. in disability pay as a result of that diagnosis?
Chuck Goudie did a nice job on this issue the link follows. Man, I would really like to get one of those elk heads. What about you, which of Jackson’s stolen memorabilia would you like to have?
