Paraphilias of the Day: Coprophilia and Urolagnia

For the countless millions of Americans who could never understand why homosexual men would want to have a sexual liaison in a public restroom, today’s paraphilia duo might provide some clues as to how that could be possible. Most normal people I know find it an unpleasant experience when they’re required to answer the call and use public facilities for what they’re designed for. When it comes to the idea of having sex there, well, I will again presume to speak for most normal people when I say that it’s clear that some folks have serious problems. And yes, those problems are mental problems.

BarbWire has been warning readers about the “tranny storm” that is upon us. Something tells me that a coprophilia storm could be far worse. Rather than working in urolagnia into this paragraph (which could be easily done), I’ll merely remind everyone that our first installment in this series is a must-read. And because it’s been a while, let’s remind everyone of the definition of paraphilia (according to Wikipedia):

Paraphilia (from Greek παρά para “beside” and -philia φιλία “friendship, love”) is the experience of intense sexual arousal to atypical objects, situations, or individuals.[1] Paraphilic behavior (such as pedophilia, zoophilia, sexual sadism, and exhibitionism) may be illegal in some jurisdictions, but may also be tolerated. No consensus has been found for any precise border between unusual personal sexual tastes and paraphilic ones. There is debate over which, if any, of the paraphilias should be listed in diagnostic manuals, such as the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) or the International Classification of Diseases.

The number and taxonomy of paraphilias is under debate; one source lists as many as 549 paraphilias.[2] Several sub-classifications of the paraphilias have been proposed, and some argue that a fully dimensional, spectrum or complaint-oriented approach would better reflect the evidence.[3][4]

The sexual predictions of 3 percent of the population dominates so much of modern American culture. Why is that? BarbWire has many articles explaining why, but let me suggest you start here and here.

Why are we giving so much attention to their unnatural sexual preferences and ignoring the hundreds of others that exist? That’s part of what this series is about — trying to solve that mystery.

Okay, on to the nasty business of defining our paraphilias for today. Here’s Wikipedia on #1:

Coprophilia (from Greek κόπρος, kópros—excrement and φιλία, philía—liking, fondness), also called scatophilia or scat (Greek: σκατά, skatá-shit),[1] is the paraphilia involving sexual arousal and pleasure from feces.[2][3] In the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), published by the American Psychiatric Association, it is classified under 302.89 – Paraphilia NOS (Not Otherwise Specified) and has no diagnostic criteria other than a general statement about paraphilias that says “the diagnosis is made if the behavior, sexual urges, or fantasies cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning”. Furthermore, the DSM-IV-TR notes, “Fantasies, behaviors, or objects are paraphilic only when they lead to clinically significant distress or impairment (e.g. are obligatory, result in sexual dysfunction, require participation of nonconsenting individuals, lead to legal complications, interfere with social relationships)”.

And, Wikipedia on #2:

Urolagnia (also urophilia, undinism, golden shower and watersports) is a form of salirophilia (which is a form of paraphilia) in which sexual excitement is associated with the sight or thought of urine or urination.[1] The term has origins in the Greek language (from ouron, urine, and lagneia, lust).

Do we really need to ask the questions today? I’d rather not. If you’re new to this study of paraphilias, check out our last installment, scroll down, and replace the appropriate word in the set of questions with coprophilia and urolagnia.

Up next we’ll take a look at another example of the ways people experience “intense sexual arousal to atypical objects, situations, or individuals.” If America is to be truly free, shouldn’t all sexcentric-identified individuals be treated equally under the law?
