Rauner: Fringe Candidate. Big Government, Leftist Policy Record.

A news release from the Jeanne Ives for Governor campaign:

February 2, 2018 – This evening, the Ives for Illinois campaign released an ad entitled, “Thank you, Bruce Rauner.” The ad was an illustration of Bruce Rauner’s real agenda, based on his decisions, not his campaign promises. His accomplishments are limited to crony bailouts and radically liberal social policies. Many found this shocking.

The truth is Governor Rauner abandoned House and Senate Republicans to advance his leftist policy agenda time and again, signing the pieces of legislation featured in Ives’ “Thank you, Bruce Rauner” ad that few, if any, Republicans supported.

HB 1785 and SB 31, according to polling data, are opposed by a supermajority of Illinois GENERAL election voters. All are opposed by a supermajority of GOP primary voters as they were a supermajority of GOP legislators.

  • Illinois families do not want men in their daughter’s bathroom or locker room. (HB 1785)
    • HB 1785: 6 of 73 House and Senate Republicans voted for it (0 in the Senate). Ives voted No. Rauner signed it.
  • Illinois families do not want law enforcement told to stand down and not work with federal law enforcement to remove dangerous illegal alien criminals. (SB 31)
    • SB 31: 6 of 73 House and Senate Republicans voted for it. Ives voted No. Rauner signed it.
  • Illinois families do not to be forced to finance a new, open-ended entitlement where they must pay for abortions-on-demand all nine months of pregnancy, a slap in the face to the legacy of Henry Hyde and his well-regarded compromise amendment on the subject. (HB 40)
    • HB 40: 0 of 73 House and Senate Republicans voted for it. Ives voted No. Rauner signed it
  • Illinois families do not want to be forced to bailout billion-dollar public utilities increasing their electric bills by $300 on average in the process. (SB 2814)
    • SB 2814: 27 of 73 House and Senate Republicans voted for it. Ives voted No. Rauner signed it.
Rauner lied to and betrayed the conservative families in Illinois who elected him. The respective records of Rauner and Ives are clear and thus is the choice for the party’s nominee on March 20.
