From the Dispatches archive from July 2015– unfortunately it’s still the case that most of our ammunition goes unused:
I plan to keep harping on it until more people on the political right wake up to it. We can’t continue to just produce intellectual ammunition. We have to use it while reaching more of the uninformed and misinformed.
The Republican conservative industrial complex, which includes the Republican conservative entertainment industry, continues to roll along, much of it self-satisfied, paid well, and living the fantasy that enough of the American public is hearing their message.
I am not arguing that we will reach everyone. There will always be sizable communities which prefer to block out facts. Some Americans actually take pleasure in being low information voters. For an example of those types, click here to watch a video of some folks who are not only ignorant and troubled — but enjoying it.
This is serious business — and Pat Buchanan this past week used a quote that applies to us today when it comes to the information war:
Speaking after the fall of France, at the beginning of the Battle of Britain, Winston Churchill said, “But if we fail, then the whole world … including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science.”
Below is just a sampling of what can be found during a few minutes clicking through the better websites. They are of differing levels of importance, and in no particular order.
Again, let me put it in bold text: None of this information is reaching enough voters. None of it.
Just a note on this first one, a clip from the not always fair and not always balanced Fox News, Bill O’Reilly could be talking about many other issues using the same words, and often they would apply to Fox itself: O’Reilly’s Talking Points 7/23: Abortion and the network news
