The public schools are a criminal enterprise (post #2 of 2)

One of the many reasons the public school system needs to be dismantled is because Americans don’t have time to be full time babysitters for the misbehaving adults who run the failed taxpayer funded schools. Just like it would be too burdensome to have to oversee WalMart or Target or car dealers or grocery stores, parents should be able to rely on a free market to provide the commodity of education like they rely on it for nearly everything else.

Today’s Daily Herald gives us the latest of countless news stories that reveal the rot that dominates the school system:

Schools’ pay hikes trigger state penalties

SPRINGFIELD — At a time when suburban school districts are pushing back hard against taking over the state’s share of teacher retirement costs, many are paying thousands of dollars — sometimes hundreds of thousands — in penalties for giving big raises to administrators and teachers and driving up pensions.

School districts have had to pay because of a 2005 law intended to help ease the state’s skyrocketing pension costs. The 2005 law says a school district has to cover the future pension costs triggered by most raises of more than 6 percent a year.

Some suburban school districts far exceeded that. Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54 gave 22 percent raises in each of three years to one administrator, securing him a $236,904 pension and contributing to $645,320 in penalties the state says District 54 owes for the last two school years. The school district is disputing those charges.

A while back Dr. Samuel Blumenfeld posted a piece titled “Have the Public Schools Become a Criminal Enterprise?” You already know the answer.

There is no doubt that American educators are engaged in a criminal conspiracy to dumb-down the American people. Charlotte Iserbyt, in her definitive book, The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America, has documented the process so thoroughly that there can be no doubt about the intentions of our educators and the fact that the conspiracy is being financed by the richest liberal foundations and the federal government. John Taylor Gatto, in his book, The Underground History of American Education, describes how the conspiracy operates in the schools. He spent 30 years teaching in public schools and knows intimately how the system works.

Then, of course, we have the famous words of the National Commission on Excellence in Education, which reported in April 1983:

The educational foundations of our society are presently being eroded by a rising tide of mediocrity that threatens our very future as a nation and as a people….If an unfriendly foreign power had attempted to impose on America the mediocre educational performance that exists today, we might well have viewed it as an act of war. As it stands, we have allowed this to happen to ourselves.

Here is how he closes the article, and I couldn’t agree more:

Millions of children are thus condemned to lead lives as intellectual cripples, stunted in mental growth, spiritually empty, open to vicious temptations without a moral code to protect them.

This criminal enterprise has become totally impervious to rational reform. The only sensible thing that parents can do is remove their children from these schools and put them in private schools or teach them at home. Parents still have the freedom to take matters into their own hands. If they don’t, then it is the children who will suffer.
