The Left, the Progressives, the Secular Humanists…all of those virulently opposed to a biblical worldview have for far too long controlled all of our societal media. Hollywood is a bastion of America-hating loons following Michael Moore’s drumbeat.
I and many of my conservative friends have been sounding the clarion call for too long: we must infiltrate broadcast media, we must buy networks, we must produce excellent movies and television shows.
Heaven knows the homosexual activists brazenly bullied most broadcast networks to succumb to their demands to inundate TV with LGBTQ parts and storylines.
The radical environmentalists, the Darwinists, and Socialists have effectively over-run government schools, fighting incessantly for over a century for worldview dominance.
I am reminded of Psalm 13:
How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?
Consider and answer me, O Lord my God;
light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death,
lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,”
lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken.
Well enough!
Conservatives and Christians have the proven, life-affirming worldview. A worldview that uplifts people and strengthens families. It’s high time we acted as we should: like people who have a message that SAVES lives, that restores virtues, that reconciles man to his Creator.
It’s time for bold and courageous moves because we are not about narcissistic hedonism, we are about sacrificial love ultimately displayed in the person of the Savior.
One such unheralded, but significant victory caught my attention today: Mark Burnett has just been named the new President of MGM Television!
For any who’ve not been watching television for that last few decades (and of late for good reason!), Movieguide.org fills out Mark’s substantial bio:
In many Christian homes across the country, Mark Burnett and Roma Downey have become well known names thanks to their TV shows THE BIBLE and The MOVIEGUIDE® Award winning movie SON OF GOD. Both Burnett and Downey have become trusted entertainment industry figures for the Christian community, and this latest announcement will give Burnett and Downey more opportunities to reach that audience with quality content. MGM’s content includes the JAMES BOND and ROCKY franchises, THE HOBBIT, THE MAGNIFICENT, FARGO, and many other movies and television shows.
In addition, Roma Downey was made president of LightWorkers Media, stating, “We have entered into an era where faith-based and family programming is experiencing a creative renaissance. I am so excited and grateful to head up the team at LightWorkers Media under MGM. This is an enthusiastic marketplace that inspires us every day to create and curate new, thoughtful and dynamic content for all screens in the distribution landscape.”
With MGM partnering with LightWorkers Media, Christians can expect even more faith oriented content, as well as quality programming from MGM’s vast library of classic movies. In addition to this major news, Burnett is currently executive producing a spinoff TV series of SHARK TANK called BEYOND THE TANK, and Burnett and Downey are producers on the new remake of the classic movie BEN-HUR scheduled to be released in the second half of 2016.
I don’t know about you, but my response was, “Praise the Lord!”
Mark’s role won’t change and eradicate all of the drivel and dreck flooding the television, but it’s a foothold in an industry that sorely needs revising and rescuing. One small step for people of faith and conservatives who revere the Bible and biblical values.
This is the way it’s done: we must be indefatigable in our pursuit to affect our culture, winning hearts and minds one at a time, never giving up.
Mark Burnett and Roma Downey are examples of two people, working tirelessly with the gifts God gave them in the world of entertainment. They are examples of what must be done in every avenue of our culture, with grace and excellence, taking advantage of every means to reach and inform the hurting and lost.
How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?
Until we claim the victory. We have the truth and the life: let’s start acting like it.
