Prediction: ‘Obsession’ with Trump could destroy Democratic Party

By Chad Groening:

A conservative activist and longtime political pundit predicts if the Democratic Party continues along its current path, it could go the way of the Whigs.

Rather than improving the economy and working to provide a better quality of life for the American people, Democrats – according to Richard Viguerie – remain “obsessed” with identity politics and their hatred of President Donald Trump. Viguerie, a political analyst and chairman of ConservativeHQ, thinks this continued course is going to do serious damage to the Democratic brand.

“The average American is concerned about their jobs, their community, and national security – and the Democrats aren’t addressing any of those issues,” the political pundit argues. “The more obsessed the Democrats become with impeaching the president [and] driving him out office, the more disconnected they’re going to be with the voters.”

Viguerie says the more the Democrats talk about impeachment and try to undo the 2016 election, the more it will hurt them.

“If they’re not careful, they’re going to really disconnect with the American people and perhaps go the way of the Whig Party* back in the 19th Century,” he offers.

Viguerie isn’t alone in his assessment of how the anti-Trump fervor among Democrats might play out in the lead-up to the 2020 presidential election. Robert Knight – a conservative activist and a columnist for The Washington Times and OneNewsNow – points to rumblings among House Democrats for impeachment proceedings.
