Where has all the District 95 money gone? Surprise, surprise it went to the teachers.
How many District 95 taxpayers have had their salaries increase by 46% over the last 4 years like the average District 95 teacher has? My guess is: not many.
Once again when we examine the so-called “need” for an Education Fund Referendum we find the reason is escalating teacher salaries — not various “increased costs” like insurance and electricity as put forward by the school board, administration, teachers union and referendum supporters (who tend to be the same people).
When salaries increase at 10% plus per year as in District 95 then of course the education fund is short of money. In fact, if you notice the difference between the school board’s claim of 5.5% increases and the actual 10% annual increase, you can see why they say they need 47 cents — and the misinformed (purposely misinformed by school officials) folks at www.district95monitor.com think there should only be a 30 cent increase.
The Daily Herald has shown you cannot trust school officials not to overtax you for previous Education Fund referendums, and you cannot trust them for the amount of bonds being put forward on construction referendums, and now you cannot trust them to tell you how much salaries are increasing.
Why in the world would you vote to give them any more money?
Starve the public school monster. Vote no on every referendum until politicians in Springfield force school district officials to provide transparency and honest facts to the voters.
