The health care issue – the principles haven’t changed since 2002

In 2002 I penned a column about the health care issue during the Illinois governor campaign – and four year later I re-used the quotes from it because they still were the best I’d read. Simple, understandable, to the point. The source was Grace Marie-Turner of the Galen Institute, and Galen has just published “A Radical Restructuring of Health Insurance: Millions to lose the health coverage they have now.”

Here’s how it opens:

One of the most fervent promises President Obama made to the American people before passage of the health overhaul law was “If you like your health care plan, you will be able to keep your health care plan. Period. No one will take it away. No matter what.”

But, even before the law fully takes effect, millions of people are losing “the coverage they have now,” and tens of millions more surely will follow.
