Before going any further, let me extend my heartfelt appreciation to everyone, left or right, angry or not, who are helping to bring more attention to this website and our paraphilia series. I can’t thank you enough. For those of you who are just joining us, you can get caught up here — and be sure to read this one.
The question arises — why am I continuing with this? Haven’t I made my point already? The answer is that in a lot of cases education takes time. Not everyone gets it right away. For decades we’ve been subjected to an onslaught of misinformation about so-called “gay rights.” Getting to the truth will also take time. Running this set of articles is merely one attempt to finally get the nation to focus on what it is we’re talking about when we’re discussing the LGBTOMGWTFBBQ agenda.
It’s time to define the terms — to set the proper context — and to be honest about where this identity politics of sex-centric special “rights” will inevitably take the nation. When other behavior-based groups demand “equality” based upon how — and with whom or what — they prefer to have sex, things are going to get really weird. (Actually, they already are pretty weird.) Yes, it’s about sex. It really is. A type of sex practiced by maybe 3 percent of the population. And for that we’re supposed to destroy marriage and eliminate religious liberty without bothering to repeal the First Amendment.
If a man wants to have sex with a man, that desire does not rise to the level of being Hispanic or Asian or Caucasian or African American. His sexual predilections are not the same as race. If a woman wants to have sex with a woman, that doesn’t mean she deserves the special protection of law based upon that desire that we extend to the morally neutral categories such as race, gender, age, and ethnicity. It’s not complicated but a lot of people are very confused.
Do we need to define paraphilia again? Yes, we do:
Paraphilia (from Greek παρά para “beside” and -philia φιλία “friendship, love”) is the experience of intense sexual arousal to atypical objects, situations, or individuals.[1] Paraphilic behavior (such as pedophilia, zoophilia, sexual sadism, and exhibitionism) may be illegal in some jurisdictions, but may also be tolerated. No consensus has been found for any precise border between unusual personal sexual tastes and paraphilic ones. There is debate over which, if any, of the paraphilias should be listed in diagnostic manuals, such as the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) or the International Classification of Diseases.
The number and taxonomy of paraphilias is under debate; one source lists as many as 549 paraphilias.[2] Several sub-classifications of the paraphilias have been proposed, and some argue that a fully dimensional, spectrum or complaint-oriented approach would better reflect the evidence.[3][4]
On to our paraphilia of the day as defined by Wikipedia:
Voyeurism is the sexual interest in or practice of spying on people engaged in intimate behaviors, such as undressing, sexual activity, or other actions usually considered to be of a private nature.[1]
The principal characteristic of voyeurism is that the voyeur does not normally relate directly with the subject of his/her interest, who is often unaware of being observed. Voyeurism may involve the making of a secret photograph or video of the subject during an intimate activity. When the interest in a particular subject is obsessive, the behavior may be described as stalking.
Let me ask our readers to search their hearts for any bigotry that might be in there concerning voyeurs. It’s who they are.
It’s never a pleasant experience to scan the list of paraphilias to choose one. But then I think of all of the hatred and discrimination experienced by those who self-identify as, for example, voyeurs. Then the motivation to speak up for these persecuted souls pushes me forward.
As an aside, I am currently researching the content of the typical “sensitivity training” programs so I can begin the work of suggesting to those teaching them how they might enlarge their scope to include the re-education of anyone who has a moral problem with any of the other ways people experience of intense sexual arousal.
