The 2012 GOP presidential campaign slogan: “Our liar is better than your liar”

Those doing the delegate math are saying the Republican presidential race is over, and I don’t doubt it. So the pathetic 2012 match-up is set: Our liar versus their liar. God help us all.

Here are two excerpts from Thomas Sowell at National Review describing how both candidates have a serious problem with the truth. I should note, the below example regarding Mitt Romney is just one of many. Google it and you’ll see. His campaign is still telling lies about Rick Santorum. As a friend of mine points out, what does that say about Romney – that even after he wraps up the nomination he still seeks to smear his opponents?

Romney:

The Republican establishment is pulling out all the stops to try to keep Newt Gingrich from becoming the party’s nominee for president of the United States — and some are not letting the facts get in their way.

[…]

Do the Romney camp and the Republican establishment not know this, a dozen years later? Or are they far less concerned with whether the charges will stand up than they are about smearing Gingrich on the eve of the Florida primaries?

[…]

The same practices may well have something to do with the public’s dissatisfaction with the current crop of candidates in this year’s primaries — and in previous years’ primaries. Character assassination is just another form of voter fraud.

Obama:

One of the highly developed talents of President Barack Obama is the ability to say things that are demonstrably false, and make them sound not only plausible but inspiring.

That talent was displayed just this week when he was asked whether he thought the Supreme Court would uphold Obamacare as constitutional or strike it down as unconstitutional.

[…]

They have been doing so for more than two centuries. It is the foundation of American constitutional law. There is no way that Barack Obama has never heard of it or really believes it to be “unprecedented” after two centuries of countless precedents.

In short, he is simply lying.

[Obama] is also counting on something else — namely, that the pro-Obama media will not expose his lies.
